A few months ago, Maybelline came with a new eyeshadow palette into Czech drugstores. It is still pretty difficult to find a good eyeshadow palette in the drugstore here, therefore, I was immediately attracted to this new piece. In today’s post, I would like to share my thoughts about it.
The palette is called The Blushed NUDES and it contains 12 rosy-nude eyeshadow colors. All shades look very nice and usable. Although some of them look quite shimmery in a pan, applied on the skin they are more satin finish. None of the shades is matte which is kind of the shame. However, the palette contains all necessary shades for a neutral look from the lightest one to the dark smokey eyes. Interesting detail is a backside of the palette that advice how to use and combine provided colors. It suggests using two, three or four eyeshadows that are accordingly placed in the palette. The overall idea of this palette and selection of colors in it I have found very good.
The problem comes with a quality of eyeshadows. Pigmentation is not the best but also not the worst that I have seen. For drugstore product, it is not bad at all. Unfortunately, all eyeshadows are extremely powdery and they cause a lot of fall outs. It makes an application quite difficult especially with a brush (application with sponge or fingers is not so bad). This is a real downside of this palette. It can be partially improved by using of a wet brush (e.g. with water, eye drops or MAC fix+).
Shades look pretty different in pans and swatches but applied on the lid they can look quite similar. Therefore at the end of the day, looks created with this palette tend to be quite similar and palette does not offer enough variety due it.
My overall rating would be pretty average. I definitely find a usage for this palette as I do really like its shades. However, if you do not like powdery eyeshadows I think it is not the right one for you. It is definitely not a piece that I would repurchase in future.
If I am not mistaken, this palette is already available in the USA for a while, maybe also in other parts of the world. Do you have any experience with it? What are your suggestions for good drugstore palette? Let me know in comments below.
